Hungrill has recently popped up on Mill Road, serving authentic Greek gyros and souvlaki. There aren’t many proper Greek gyros in Cambridge, so I was delighted to see this little gem appear, especially since my wife and I (especially my wife) are big fans of Greek food.

It’s an easy place to find, located on the corner of Mill Road and Tension Road. The building is painted bright white with a big blue sign, giving us that true authentic Greek look.

The place is small and mostly set up as a takeaway but there are approximately 4 tables that can seat 3 people each. We were able to get a table without any trouble but Hungrill fills up fast, so stay vigilant!
There are three menus on the wall with a selection of different options.
The first board had something they called ‘portions’. This is essentially a deconstructed gyros served on a slate. It comes with a choice of gyros meat ranging from pork, chicken, and mixed but there are also options to have lamb or chicken skewers. These all come with salad, chips, and pita bread.

For those of you wondering what the point of a deconstructed gyros is, the difference is that the meat portions are much bigger. My poor unsuspecting mother ordered this and was completely overwhelmed. Being the perfect and selfless son that I am, I heroically stepped in to support her with this monster! 🤣

The salad and feta cheese was really fresh and added some much needed colour to the meal. It had a bit of everything and even came with a side of mayo.

The meat quality was really good. My mother hates fatty meat but she was able to eat a significant amount before I had to step in.

The next board had a selection of wraps (chicken, pork, mixed), skewers (chicken, lamb), a vegetarian option (grilled graviera cheese) and a vegan option. These all hovered around the £8-9 mark, which made them a little cheaper than the ones at Tzatziki down the road but they were also a little smaller (so it likely balances out).
My step dad had the lamb skewer (left) and I had the pork wrap (right). Both came with tomato, onion, chips, and tzatziki. My step dad thought that his lamb skewer was a little stingy on the meat but my pork wrap had a completely reasonable amount. Maybe our expectations were different?

I also noticed bottles of ‘Loux’ in the fridge. This is a Greek brand of soda that uses ‘100% authentic Greek lemons and oranges’. This is really refreshing and much more pleasant than other popular mainstream brands of fizzy drinks. It was slightly less carbonated and had a more natural taste. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go for it again 👍

Hungrill is a great addition to the Mill Road foodie scene. Prices are reasonable, the service is great (seriously, the woman serving us couldn’t do enough for us) and everything tasted fantastic. I highly recommend going for the gyros portions.
I have already seen a few people post on the Cambridge Foodies community, all speaking very highly of Hungrill, so I know I am not alone!
Thanks for reading!
