Two Treasures – The best noodles in Cambridge? 😍😱

As part of my journey exploring the many great restaurants of Regent Street, I stumbled across a brand new noodle bar located right next door to De Luca, called Two Treasures.

The restaurant has absolutely no internet presence, making the mystery and the prospect of an authentic gem even more enticing. The menu consists primarily of ramen and noodle dishes, all freshly made and stretched in full view.

A true bustling noodle bar

It was a Saturday lunch time so the place was absolutely rammed full of people looking to investigate. The chef was located right by the front door in plain sight and was working hard to make our hand stretched noodles from scratch. He was incredibly skilled and you could tell there was a real technique involved in the process. I enjoyed watching him for nearly twenty minutes.

I also want to give massive credit to the lady working on the front line who was using real hustle to manage the seating situations with the large queues. Despite being busy, we were able to find a couple of chairs without much trouble, all thanks to her. If you see it is busy during your visit, don’t be put off!

Beef-brisket ramen

Freshly made with their signature hand-pulled noodles, the beef brisket ramen came with pickled cabbage and fresh chilli, all served in a rich beef broth. The bowl was generously laden with large, slow-cooked chunks of beef brisket, spring onions and coriander. This is a bowl of hearty goodness, ideal for the up and coming winter months.

The brisket was plentiful, chunky, and unashamedly fatty. It was utterly delicious and impossibly tender, dissolving almost instantly. The noodles themselves tasted exactly as fresh as they looked, a testament to being prepared right in front of me, delivering a wonderful springy texture.

Looking at this incredible example of ramen, you’d be forgiven for thinking there is no way to possibly improve on it… right?

Wrong!

The crowning touch

While waiting in the queue, I noticed a lady behind the till whip out a huge beef rib from a giant stew and place it ceremoniously on top of a bowl of noodles. My eyes nearly bugged out at the sheer magnificence of it. I couldn’t see much about it on the main menu, but upon further inspection, this glorious-looking rib was mentioned right at the very bottom in small writing.

I immediately ordered one to go on top of my beef brisket ramen and I highly recommend you do too. This huge chunk of unadulterated, slow-cooked beef was the crowning jewel. It turned an already great bowl of ramen into an inspiring, unforgettable dish that I will be thinking about for weeks. I mean, just look at it!

The rib was so tender that you could pick at it with chopsticks. I simply dunked it into the broth of my noodles and let the meat fall off the bone into pieces. God, damn, I loved it so much!

Garlic chilli oil beef ramen

I was joined by my son, who is currently going through a huge ramen phase. He has always had a knack for picking exciting dishes from the menu and, once again, lived up to his reputation by finding this colourful dish – also known as “biang biang noodles” (named after the smacking sound you make while eating it). It is served with a generous portion of tender beef slices, along with bean sprouts, carrots, chilli flakes, and chilli oil. I didn’t manage to try it myself, but he declared it was “next level.”

The best noodles in town?

Two Treasures is more than just another noodle bar; it is an experience of magnificent and authenticity. From the theatre of the hand-pulled noodles, to the ruthless efficiency of the service, and, most importantly, the depth of flavour in the broth and the sheer quality of the meat, this place truly delivers on every level. The food is comforting, honest, and utterly delicious. Currently, this is my favourite place for noodles in Cambridge.

I’ll be back! Oh yes!
