Located in both St Neots and Doddington, ‘Stacked & Loaded’ has a reputation for delivering…well, stacked burgers and loaded fries! You cannot fault the marketing team, as you get exactly what it says on the tin.

If you are on a diet then steer well clear of these guys as they are unashamedly big, bold, and indulgent. They are a takeaway and delivery only establishment, though there are a few chairs inside for quick dining on the go. Historically, I have been disappointed with burgers by delivery as they don’t travel well, so I was keen to see how they would turn out.

We started off with a few thickshakes. There is a menu with 5 in total. Sizes were standard but our salted caramel and chocolate were both superb. Both were so rich, smooth, and so so sweet.

The burgers
If you are ordering from Stacked & Loaded then you are likely going to order a burger. All burgers are double stacked with a selection of 12 burgers in total. Reading through their social media, they also add specials for a limited time, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out for anything new.

Their seeded burger buns are large and durable enough to hold their generously packed burgers together without disintegration. They look great and are very wide, giving them the ability to be properly stacked inside 👍
The Korean Dream 🇰🇷

Korean chicken is one of my favourites, so I was very excited to give their Korean Dream a go. This monster came with gochujang chicken, spring onions, lettuce, coriander & sweet & sour mayo. The chicken was served in large crispy strips with a sweet and spicy flavour with a thick juicy succulence that worked perfectly in a burger. The Korean chicken isn’t going to keep up with the likes of Kor.deli but I preferred it to the chicken at Yori. Either way, it was well suited for a burger.
The New York Stack

The New York Stack is a deli style burger that consists of two stack beef patties, mustard mayo, pastrami, nutty cheese, sliced gherkin, sauerkraut & lettuce.

This was a visually stunning burger with vivid yellow mustard, colourful green gherkins that really popped when you opened it up and beautifully pink beef that brought the entire burger to life. The gherkins and sauerkraut added a satisfying crunch and a very welcome salty sour punch to the bite. The beef was soft but mild, and was served in a generous multi layer portion that really gave it a juicy depth. These burgers are perfect for sinking your teeth into!
Chorizo Doritoz

The Chorizo Doritoz felt like a trashy and gimmicky burgers out of the three but it turned out to be one of my favourites. It came served with two stacked beef patties topped with cheese, chorizo jam, chorizo slices, nachos, jalapenos, spicy tomato relish & lettuce.
The chorizo was thickly cut and generosity layered with at least four slices. The “Doritoz” surprisingly brought a lot to the table by giving an extra dimension of flavour rarely found in a burger but also a crispy texture that really pulled everything together nicely.

Sesame Gochusang

The sesame Gochusang chicken strips were incredible. My wife took a particular liking to them and I can see why. They were big and juicy with a nice crispy skin and slavered in a sweet honey sauce that came with a fiery finish.
Loaded fries

We ordered two boxes of loaded fries. These are served with thin cut chips and caked in sauce. One box had bread crumb fried chicken which made it a balanced meal in it’s own right. Portions were generous and presentation looks great, though towards the end the chips started to get a little soggy.

Conclusion

Stacked & Loaded is exactly what it says on the tin. It isn’t trying to offer fancy grass fed beef with imported bread rolls but it will give you a proud, unashamed trashy burger for a reasonable price. It’s perfect for the weekend and something you can be sure will fill you up. They understand the importance of a strong burger bun and finding ways of adding that crispy/crunchy texture to the bite that makes a burger so satisfying. I will be back for sure!
