Cambridge BBQ School grand opening – Cambridge Home & Garden

Calling all barbeque lovers!

I know we have many in the Cambridge Foodies Facebook group, so I thought I would share my experience on the latest BBQ School opening up in Cambridgeshire.

Cambridge Home & Garden (located at the Auction House complex in Willingham) have just started their very own classes aimed at taking the average summer time griller to the next level.

Advert – The Brook, Mill Road

Their launch event was this weekend and hosted by their very own Kirsty who will be teaching the classes. She was there to show off her skills and celebrate what they have to offer. There is a great open space outside with lots of barbecues on the go. Lot 25 was open serving drinks and the sun was shining. This was a perfect day for grilling!

The team were a great bunch and clearly passionate about their craft. It was remarkable the flavours they could get out of meat which was, by their own admission, from Aldi. It just goes to show the power of the BBQ and how far you can take something fairly standard in quality and take it to the next level, as the food was immense! These are real life skills which can actually save you money when you know what you are doing.

You know you want it

We were shown a wide selection of meats, ranging from the beautiful steaks you see above and below, to chicken wings and bacon wrapped meat balls.

There is an entire garden centre on site with a wide selection of grills, barbeques, and smoker eggs for you to buy, if you feel like you have got the grilling fever.

Jealous?

So what do you get in your lesson?

  • Breakfast on arrival
  • 2 x drink tokens to exchange for tea, coffee, beer, wine and soft drinks
  • Cambridge BBQ School note pad & pen
  • Copy of the latest BBQ Magazine
  • Food throughout the event, cooked and prepared by your own fair hands
  • A fully licensed bar to purchase additional drinks
  • Exclusive in-store discount on the day of the event

The 4 hour course is being hosted by Kirsty herself, who is an ambassador for Traeger. This means you will be using Traeger wood fired grills, though these skills will be transferable to other types of grills too. There is even talk of a vegan event coming soon. Prices come to £125 for a 4 hour lesson with one class a month available for booking.

The bacon wrapped meat balls were amazing!
