I have been having a love affair with Tom’s Cakes in Ely over the last few months.

If you are a frequent reader of my blog then you will know that I have reviewed it in the past and I am a big fan. Since my review I have found myself coming back again and again to meet friends and family alike. Mostly attracted by the great cakes that seem to be just slightly better than anywhere else in Cambridgeshire (in my opinion). But it is also the little differences too, which make life easier and my experience more pleasant.

I am referring to, of course, is access. When somewhere is quick and easy to pop to then you find yourself doing it a whole lot more. With Cambridge becoming increasingly hostile to people from outside the city, I find myself driving to Ely where parking is free, plentiful, and with hardly any congestion on the way.

The baby changing facilities are also great here. I am often out and about with my new born baby boy who will always choose the most inappropriate moments to need a nappy change, so having proper baby changing facilities which aren’t exclusively in the women’s toilets are always a bonus!
It is also worth noting that wheelchair access is also great with a ramp-like floor for access.
I am not the only one who agrees too, with a cult following forming on the Cambridge Foodies and a huge response from my Instagram reel a few months ago, making it one of the most viewed videos on my page!
I love Tom’s Cakes. Do you? Read our review here.
