“ad” – Why is this here?
I recently visited Katana in Peterborough to try their unlimited sushi night on Wednesdays. I absolutely love sushi, but my biggest problem with it is that it eventually has to end. I know, shocker but it never seems to get any easier!

Because of this inevitable and ominous conclusion, during my younger years, I often searched for unlimited sushi deals only to be left disappointed with mediocre sushi. This trade-off has put me off these sorts of deals ever since, but Katana looks posh as hell with a real stylish vibe. Just by looking at the website, I know that this wasn’t going to be some naff sushi, so I decided to give it a second chance put them to the test.

The restaurant is absolutely stunning. The neon lights, the cherry blossom tree in the entrance, and the melodic atmosphere came together to create a sophisticated environment that was ideal for two crude fenland boys to neck sushi like the world was going to end in an hour.

Available every Wednesday from 5pm to 8:30pm for a mere £32.50 per person, the deal gives you 90 minutes of endless sushi. The only condition is you order a mixed plate of everything to start with. Though technically a restriction, I thought it was an ideal start as it gave you a sample of absolutely everything before swinging wild. You are then free to explore, ordering up to one dish per person at a time.

I will admit, the sushi passed the test. Even for an unlimited menu, it kept up with the likes of other Cambridge sushi joints like Kibou or Japas. Yes, it was slightly below the likes of high-end joints like Sticks & Sushi that you have to remortgage your house to pay for, but to be honest…not by much, and for £32.50, you cant complain! Bravo guys!

The service was impeccable, and this is important as “all you can eat” places in my experience have been known to drag their feet slightly to make sure the house comes out on top when it comes to value for money, but these guys were ON IT.

Personal highlights were the California roll, the Salmon Kawa Maki, and the Tori Age Roll.
For the sake of balance, if I had to pick a critisms, I would admit that I would have preferred a slightly heavier usage of sauce as the rolls were slightly dry but not by much.

Though everything hit the mark.
I know a drive from Cambridge to Peterborough is demanding, but with parking literally around the corner and the drive being mostly motorway, if you are serious about hitting the sushi hard then this is a no-brainer. Sometimes you gotta spend petrol to make sushi…or something.

Oh, did I mention that there are actual Teppanyaki tables, an Indian pan-Asian menu in a separate built-in kitchen, and bottomless brunches? God damn. I need to go back, as there is so much more to this place than meets the eye.

Thanks for reading – actually, with this one, you should be thanking me, as by reading this, I just did you foodies a favour! 🤣
