Fireaway Pizza – Perne Road

I popped by Fireaway Pizza on Adkins Corner to try some of their pizza from their new menu.

Fireaway Pizza is a chain takeaway that serves quick fired pizzas prepared with ‘traditional Italian methods’ and ‘innovative flour combinations’. These are cooked at 400C, hand stretched, and with home made tomato sauce.

They have a gorgeous website that is clear and very easy to use with a wide selection of choices. I quite liked the calorie contents next to each pizza to give you a rough idea of how badly you’ve ruined your diet. For me, the ordering process is a big deal with takeaways. How many pizzas delivery companies have a crude app or website that makes the experience a stressful ordeal?

Not here.

I visited on a Tuesday while they were offering the ‘buy one get one free’ deal, which is something I would recommend taking advantage of, if you end up visiting.

You can customise your pizza from start to finish with a choice of bases (including gluten free and a salad base). There is also the option to pick your cheeses, vegetables, meats, and other toppings. You can literally design your pizza from the ground up.

I decided to go for their ‘Meat Heaven’. This is a 12″ pizza with a regular base, tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, turkey bacon, sausage, and meatballs (985kal). I added some jalapenos on top, as I like a fiery kick. 🔥

I could see they were making my pizza fresh to order in the back and the pizza still came out in great time, thanks to their 400C pizza oven.

In terms of ‘innovative flour combinations’, this means that they mix different types of flour for optimal pizza bases. I must admit, the pizza base was lovely. It was thin, strong, and had a distinct flavour. Toppings were quite generous and I was particularly impressed with the quality of the pepperoni and sausage. There were enough meatballs on the pizza to serve one on each slice but they didn’t add much flavour but at least the jalapenos were just the way I like em, crispy and fiery!

Overall, it was a very nice pizza. It is certainly one of the better takeaway only pizzas I have had from Cambridge over the years.

I was also treated to one of their milkshakes. Fireaway Pizza have a variety of flavours but vanilla has always been a favourite of mine. It was a very straight forward milkshake without too much to complicate it and that’s no bad thing. It was thick, creamy, sweet, and delicious. I could have easily had two!

For dessert, I was given a ‘Nutella pizza’. This is something I have seen pop up a lot lately at other establishments, so it must be getting very popular. I must admit, this is not really my cup of tea but I know many people who would absolutely love this idea.

The Nutella pizza is a freshly baked pizza base topped with Nutella and icing sugar. This can be loaded with other toppings from their menu. Mine came with strawberries that added a nice crisp freshness that was very welcome. I could also see bananas working well with this. As I had consumed an entire pizza before this one, I struggled to finish it but can see why these are popular. This is for the sweet lovers out there!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Fireaway Pizza. There are no flashy gimmicks here but everything is done really well from start to finish, from their lovely pizza bases to the good quality ingredients used on top, especially their pepperoni.

Ordering the pizza is a breeze with their really sharp looking website that also comes with a loyalty card. I also like the idea of being given complete freedom over how you want your pizza with their customisation options. I wish we had something like this closer to me as we struggle to get a decent pizza delivery place in the fens.

Fireaway Pizza knows exactly what takeaway pizza is about and aims to get the fundamentals absolutely perfect. This is straight forward quality pizza!
