The Green Room – Sawston

This morning I had the pleasure of visiting the brand new coffee shop in Sawston,
The Green Room, Sawston I say coffee shop but from the moment you walk through the door, it’s clear this venue has the potential to offer so much more. There is a lovely boho vibe with wicker light-shades hanging from the ceiling and plenty of greenery throughout. Calm yet trendy.
When seated, the staff all seemed attentive and knowledgeable. The menu is simple but effective in its offerings- a crispy bacon sandwich, to waffles florentine with salt beef.
Today I went for a flat white and then for food, the fried eggs on sourdough with extra bacon, portabello mushroom and split peas, with my partner opting for scrambled eggs with bacon and then for dessert, house waffles with cranberry curd, spiced apples and vanilla cream (dessert for brunch isn’t a normal occurrence for me but I felt the Cambridge foodies needed a comprehensive review).
The coffee is great on parr with the multiple artisan options in Cambridge – Hot Numbers, Espresso Library and so on. The food was delightful. Everything was made with care from high quality products and cooked as expected. The waffles are a must for a sweet tooth. Prices are as you would expect from a high quality coffee shop in Cambridgeshire.
Overall, I really enjoyed our visit today and I’m excited to see the plans this large open plan venue has for the future. This place would be great for larger groups looking for a brunch venue or couples and young families looking for a chilled dining experience. Great start The green room, I can’t wait to come again! #sawston #coffee #brunch #cambridge #review
