I was in Norwich last night and popped into ‘Spice Valley’ for an unexpected pit stop. This is located on Magdalen Street near the city centre.
This review is short and sweet because I was not originally intending to do a review (being in Norwich and all) but I had such a lovely meal I thought it would be nice to share. Especially since I know some of us in the Cambridge Curry Community visit Norwich from time to time.

The restaurant was beautifully decorated and could host over a hundred customers. It had a traditional style with a modern twist, perfect for all occasions.
I was fascinated by their menus which had a backlight that made reading the menu much easier in their dark atmospheric lighting. It made me laugh as the kids on the table next to me thought the menus were a tablet and got very excited reading them. I wish I had got a photo but as I was not intending to do a review, I didn’t feel the need to take one at the time.
The service was formal and polite, though they did get themselves confused over a drink order but this was trivial.

I ordered a chicken tikka vindaloo, saag aloo, and mushroom rice which were all executed perfectly.

The vindaloo had a really nice smokey taste. The chicken was of great quality and they had tikka’d it well. Most importantly the vindaloo had a really nice kick to it, which is something a lot of Indian restaurants fail to do these days.

The mushroom rice portion was generous and the saag aloo side was excellent (and also very generous on the spinach).

I highly recommend popping in to Spice Valley if you are ever in Norwich. They tick all the boxes of what you want from an Indian restaurant.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, the lighting made it challenging.
