I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Curry Palace is the best Indian restaurant north of Cambridge.

I was treated to an early father days meal and was allowed to pick any restaurant I wanted. Naturally I decided to go to Curry Palace which has been a favourite of mine for decades. I haven’t been in a while (mainly thanks to lockdown) and have really missed the place.
As usual, the service was friendly, the staff were chatty, and the restaurant had a warm atmospheric ambience to it. This is a restaurant which i really enjoy being inside. The menu has a good selection of everything you expect with a really good labelling system which covers most of the key dietary requirements.

I decided to go for the lamb tawa, Jack had the lamb chom chom, and Megan had the tandoori king prawn masala.

We ordered some papadums, Saag aloo, and a mango lassi too.

I’ve always said that Curry Palace does the best lime pickle in Cambridge. After talking to the staff here over the years I’ve found out that it’s because they go to London especially to get it from a particular place. The onion salad was absolute perfection too and was finely chopped. The mango chutney was decent though nothing special.
The saag aloo was fairly standard but didn’t disappoint. Our mushroom rice was a generous portion and done well.

Our main courses were all excellent. The lamb chom chom was a curry with cheese, which I didn’t think work well originally, but after tasting a bit was blown away. All the dishes with lamb just fell to pieces and unlike a lot of other restaurants which serve lamb had generous portions.
My lamb tawa was probably the best I had outside of Cam Spice. They did it extra hot for me and I got exactly that. At the end of the meal we had PROPER hot towels (actual towels, not microwaved wet wipes) which is a standard I am delighted to see being held as many other places simply cop out to save on costs.

We were also given a chocolate after our meal. The staff obviously took a shine to Jack and gave him a free dessert which he was over the moon about.
It’s little things like that which add extra joy to a dining experience.
A big thank you to all the staff at Curry Palace.
