I was strolling through Ely market on a busy Saturday afternoon when I stumbled across an unfamiliar food van – Churros.

Chatting with the team, this was their first pitch in Ely, so I was lucky to catch them when I did. We can’t have an unexplored food van in Ely now, can we? š¤£

A churros is a sweet fried dough from Spain which is very similar to a doughnut. It comes in several long log shapes and is served with a choice of topping and dip.
Price: £5
Topping: Sugar or cinnamon sugar.
Dip: Salted caramel, Nutella, biscoff, and strawberry jam.

I decided to go for a cinnamon sugar topping with a salted caramel dip. There were 5 pieces in total which was enough to share between my family but it was also quite a bit portion for one person in itself.
It was nice and crispy on the outside with a soft and fluffy centre. As it is made fresh to order, the churros are lovely and warm, which makes me feel like it would be perfect in the up and coming autumn or over the Christmas market season.

And to answer the question I know you are asking, yes, the cinnamon sugar and salted caramel dip does melt together in a sea of crumbs at the bottom. It was glorious! š

Churros is a very welcome addition to the Ely market. They are also occasionally stationed in Saffron Walden, so keep your eyes peeled.
