It is no secret that I am a big fan of Higgsy’s. That’s why I ranked then so highly on my burger league table.
The only trouble is that they are usually located in Yaxley or the Peterborough area, meaning that they can be hard to reach for people in Cambridge… that is, until now!
This bank holiday weekend they will be at the University Arms Hotel dishing out their Redneck style smash burgers and loaded fries. I was lucky enough to be invited to a pre launch to check out the setup and get reacquainted with their dangerously indulgent burgers.
I recommend trying their iconic Redneck burger. These bad boys are everything you want from a burger and more. Big, meaty, and well built.
The burger consists of two beef smash patties, 4 slices of cheese, two beef frankfurters, streaky bacon, and onions. You get a wide choice of sauce, I went for the spicy BBQ (I think) that worked a real treat.
It’s worth noting that they will have our very own local brewery Brewboard available too, with an IPA and a lager to choose from.
If you are at a loose end this Sunday/Monday, give Higgsy’s a go. For a lot of Cambridge locals this will be the first chance to try them without having to cross the county.
