Gino’s Pizza – Ely Market

As part of my Simon’s Quest pizza journey, I decided to catch Gino’s Pizza on the Ely market square.

Gino’s serves Neapolitan style pizzas that are freshly baked to order from their food van.

The menu was small but there should be something for everyone, including a veggie option. Prices range from £8.50 for a margarita to £10.50 for their autumn special, which includes seasonal ingredients like a roasted pumpkin base.

I decided to go for the tried and true pepperoni pizza with mozzarella and chilli honey for £10. Considering that most pizzas on my journey have been between £12-16, this goes to show the value of the food van.

There is also ‘home made tiramisu’ for £4.50 which just so happens to be one of my favourite desserts! Unfortunately, we were in a bit of a rush so didn’t have time to indulge. I look forward to revisiting to give this a try!

The pizzas are cooked at 450 degrees for 60-90 seconds, so they came out in absolutely no time. These really are pizzas you can eat on the go. I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy mine in front of the iconic Ely cathedral. Perfection!

Gino’s pizzas are simple with no gimmicks but stick to the fundamental basics that make a great pizza. They are freshly made with fresh ingredients. The dough was soft and fluffy, the pepperoni was gorgeous, and the flavour of the San Marzano tomato was beautiful.

I am a big fan of Gino’s. Everything is done perfectly and considering my pepperoni was only a tenner, I think it is an absolute steal! I can’t wait to try their tiramisu next time!
