Brewboard taproom – Harston

After discovering my new favourite beer while visiting The Orator in Cambridge the other week, I have not been able to stop thinking about Beasticus by the Brewboard brewery.

Beasticus is a New England IPA.

I absolutely love its floral and citrusy taste, and being sessionable in strength at 4.9%, it also makes it a perfect summer drink.

After a bit of research online, I discovered that the Brewboard brewery occasionally does live events. With the 6 nations Rugby on and Brewboard hosting the game, I decided to drag my friend down and pay them a visit.

Beasticus has been hard to get online lately, which made the trip even more important. All I have been able to do since my first taste is try and remember how delicious it was and hope that it can live up to the hype I remember.

Brewboard is quite hard to find if you don’t know where it is. Located in a small industrial estate in Harston you can easily miss the turning while trying to find it.

Once there, the entrance was hidden behind two giant fermenting vessels outside which had recently been delivered. This is a good sign that they are looking to expand!

Upon entering I was not sure what to expect but it turned out to be exactly as you would guess. A small factory with a large screen and a bar. It got a little cold but the brewery is equipped with heating lamps which warm up on the place in no time.

There was a selection of 10 beers on tap including my beloved Beasticus. The staff here were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. Prices were reasonable too, considering the quality we was getting. You can buy a pint, 2/3 of a pint, and 1/2 pints.

It was great being able to sit and enjoy some of my favourite beer while watching the game. The drink was as lovely as I remember.

It also was interesting to see behind the scenes of the brewery too. I was really impressed with how organised and clean everything looked.

Beasticus in all its glory!

We were later greeted by a food van selling Spanish bocatas, which also meant that we weren’t stuck in an industrial estate with nothing to eat. The people at Brewboard had thought of everything for their customers. The food was great, so make sure to check out the review!

I had a fantastic time visiting the Brewboard breweries. It was not only an opportunity to witness the inner workings of one of my favourite breweries but also get access to beer which is not currently on sale. I am looking forward to seeing their expansion further and will hopefully result in more of their wonderful beer being available!

Thanks for reading.
